At 67, after surviving years of hardship and abuse, Emma became the first woman to hike the Appalachian Trail solo in 1955. Her courageous journey broke barriers, defying age and gender expectations, earning her features in Sports Illustrated, NBC's Today, and Groucho Marx's show.
